Manufacturing Lead is responsible for supervising a team of
engineers specializing in manufacturing, tooling, industrial
engineering, and planning, specifically targeting the fabrication
of prototype aircraft. The role will be accountable for the
creation of a multitude of standardized processes and procedures
within these subject areas while collaborating with the design
teams throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detail designs.
The role will be heavily involved in the building of prototype and
flight test aircraft; as well as, supporting the development and
transitioning of manufacturing technologies necessary in achieving
long term production goals. The position will work with all
technical development teams/leaders including airframe, flight
technology, vehicle management systems, powertrain, and dynamic
systems.What you can do:
- Provide strong technical and managerial leadership for the
manufacturing, tooling, industrial engineering, quality, and
planning groups
- Oversee the development of manufacturing technology and its
transition into a production environment
- Support the fabrication efforts for prototype and flight test
vehicles
- Collaborate with all engineering teams to ensure design for
manufacturing principles are properly applied
- Manage the development of manufacturing tooling standard
practices and detail design efforts
- Oversee the development and proper execution of manufacturing
planning procedures and policies
- Oversee outside suppliers in both technical and project
management aspects
- Other duties as assignedWhat you can contribute:
- B.S. in a relevant field
- Minimum of 10 years of airframe primary structures
manufacturing / integration experience using both metallic and
non-metallic (composite) technologies during preliminary design (an
equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered)
- Experience in aviation, automotive, and the mobility space with
UAS or UAM
- LEAN/Six Sigma experience and qualifications
- Must have extensive experience in aircraft or automotive
production environments
- Managerial experience with development programs
- Extensive experience with project management
- Experience with prototyping
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent listening and comprehension skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and
accomplish work within time constraints
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and
