Solar manufactures the world's most widely used family of mid-sized industrial gas turbines, ranging from 1 to 23 megawatts. Solar is a leading provider of energy solutions, featuring an extensive line of gas turbine-powered compressor sets.Job SummaryNature and Scope:Plans, schedules, leads, and oversees the execution of broad firm-business turbomachinery projects which could exceed $30 million in revenue. The scope includes all technical aspects of the project, including planning, design, procurement, assembly, testing, shipment, and commissioning. Provides technical direction to lower-level project engineers.Knowledge:Thorough knowledge of the principles relating to the design and operation of gas turbines and their auxiliary and control systems. Ability to apply these principles to direct other disciplines and guide less experienced personnel in turbine package engineering for turbomachinery projects. Must be familiar with Solar's organization and practices, as well as design and manufacturing standards for such projects.Problem Complexity:Develops solutions to highly complex technical problems, applying advanced knowledge beyond textbook methods. Coordinates complex projects with design and production planning specialists. Coaches and mentors other project engineers.Work Direction and Latitude:Exercises significant latitude in setting technical objectives. Works with the project manager to direct projects from order receipt to commissioning. Must be innovative and inventive to solve complex technical problems.Liaison:Represents the Business Management organization and is the technical leader for complex projects. Interfaces with internal management, customers, and external partners globally. Maintains good relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.Principal Accountabilities:

• Provides technical leadership from order receipt to installation and commissioning.
• Collaborates with Business Development to define projects and reconcile customer specifications.
• Works with Project Managers to resolve conflicting requirements.
• Ensures technical soundness of design and application of equipment.
• Communicates technical risks affecting schedule or profitability.
• Ensures technical strategies are understood and revisions communicated.
• Supports cost estimates with engineering data and risks.
• Resolves technical and definition issues to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Represents customer interests in quality resolution and process improvement.Business Contribution:Contributes to company objectives through project profitability, customer satisfaction, and quality of deliverables. Acts as the primary company representative from order receipt to project completion.Basic Qualifications:
  • 11 years of progressively responsible experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Solar Turbines' businessPreferred Skills:
