The company operates globally with over 800 employees in its nine facilities located in Canada, the USA, Belgium, Australia, and China.At CellCarta, Organizational Development is about ensuring we elevate our people to their highest potential, cultivate an engaging and productive environment, build passionate high-performing teams, and drive strategic solutions to maximize our business performance and support our growth.A scientific team that upholds the highest quality standards.SummaryThe Histology Laboratory Assistant is responsible for assembling samples for sectioning and/ or staining, labeling slides, quality control of samples, clinical tracker transcription, ordering supplies, monitoring of receipt of materials, filing, and maintenance of archives, monitoring of equipment PM, the performance of equipment maintenance, and performing various technical laboratory or administrative duties as necessary.ResponsibilitiesAssemble slides for sectioning and/ or staining.Label slides, Prepare specimen section request forms.Perform quality control checks of slides.Assemble blocks for sectioning, Enter sectioning data into spreadsheets.Sample selection.Perform assigned equipment maintenance tasks.Prepare reagents and solutions according to SOPs or approved written instructions.Perform Histology duties such as H&E staining, pre-and post-processing of FFPE slides, and cover slips.Prepare IHC sample setup duties.Perform blood and bone marrow specimen processing according to SOPs and protocols.Responsible for other duties as assigned by supervisor/ manager.EducationAssociate degree or bachelor's of Science PreferredRequirementsExperience in the health or biological sciences preferred.Experience with handling blood and tissue is preferred.Ability to read and interpret documents such as protocols, safety rules, and procedure manuals written in English.Ability to record results in English with acceptable accuracy.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate scientific equipment and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
