Experience: 3 years of oncology experience required (hematology
preferred) License: State license required Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, CHEMO Must-Have: - Inpatient oncology experience - Experience
with administration of chemotherapy - Epic experience Description:
Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse to assist with daily
operations on a specialized unit for blood disorders and cancers.
Responsibilities include balancing patient care with leadership,
including staffing and patient flow management. The nurse will
manage complex treatments such as chemotherapy and blood
transfusions. They will also mentor staff, ensure safety, and
collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for optimal patient
care. The patient population includes mainly adolescents, adults,
and geriatrics. Floating and weekend rotation required, with four
weekend shifts per month from Friday to Sunday. The role involves
recognizing and managing side effects of treatment, administration
of blood and blood products, and care coordination. Additional
responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, wound care, and
psychosocial care. Candidates must possess strong assessment
skills, including recognizing and communicating abnormal lab
values. They will also provide education and support to patients
and their families. Some preferred skills include experience with
bone marrow transplants, outpatient oncology, and management of
oncologic emergencies. Candidates should be familiar with safety
precautions related to chemotherapy and have experience in managing
complications such as sepsis and extravasation injuries. 5 Benefits
