The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Mission Systems & Autonomy (MS&A) software capability is seeking a Real-Time Embedded Software Engineer (Level 4) in Huntington Beach, CA. The position will involve developing real-time embedded software that will run on a custom mission data processor in Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor payloads. The selected candidate will work with an EO/IR sensor product team focused on creating next-generation, cutting edge sensors for Boeing and customer platforms ranging from aircraft to spacecraft. The product team is focused on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, and electronics. Project and program deliverables include system prototypes and proof-of-concept demonstration. We are looking for people who like to try new things and aren t afraid of a challenge!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform code development and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
  • Implement, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Develop software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, execute test procedures and document test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
    This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
    • 3+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time system
    • 1+ years experience with Software Testing or Software Verification
      Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • Experience developing Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects
      • Experience writing software for real-time digital signals processing for aerospace and defense applications
      • Experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, and Python.
      • Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
      • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc).
      • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
      • Active Security Clearance
        Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Relocation : This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
