Provide financial leadership and counsel to the Senior
Vice-President and staff.
Effectively summarizing into key points for senior leadership
and be able to adjust message when dealing with non-finance
personnel within and outside the Division.
Provide proactive and timely analysis for the Division’s
Business Excellence initiatives.
Identify profit assurance programs that can be implemented to
offset any significant downsides to the Plan.
Ensuring that the Division’s financial results are reported in
compliance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as
Abbott financial policies (CFMs).
Including the establishment of appropriate budgetary and
financial delegation levels with the Division.
Likewise, the Finance Director needs to balance financial
controls and operational needs of the Division, articulating to
operating management why certain actions may or may not be
Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are met and maintained for

to the organization in making timely and informed business
decisions, which support Division and Corporate goals and
The Finance Director needs to challenge operating manager’s
assumptions, be able to say no and propose alternative

Reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting
principles and per CFMs for proper inclusion and disclosure in
Abbott’s consolidated financial statements.
Lead the development of finance employees by recruiting highly
qualified personnel to the organization, retaining and developing
both direct and indirect reports by providing challenging
opportunities and advancing personnel as appropriate.

12 or more years financial analysis experience. Manufacturing
experience a plus. Ability to plan, implement, and administer
financial information and control systems. Knowledge of the
principles, processes and standards for integrated financial
analysis and reporting. Highly proficient in Excel. Experience with

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics; MBA
Must be proactive in originating, participating in, and
executing strategies necessary to enhance the cost effectiveness of
the Division and achievement of both short-term and long-term
