Job Description:

The Project Leader will plan, direct, manage the new product and sustaining development processes. Provide leadership working with global cross-functional team members with emphasis on meeting key metrics and objectives (quality, cost and duration). The ideal candidate should have an electronics project management background.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

(100%) Project Leader - New Product Introductions and Sustaining Projects
Oversee and lead global projects with cross functional team, working towards the common goal of introducing new or changing products with focus on meeting key metrics including but not limited to cost, quality and timing.
Collaborate with cross functional departments such as Engineering, Manufacturing Sites, Industrial Design, Packaging, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance and Marketing.
Assure manufacturing process capabilities are evaluated, communicated and integrated into the overall product design (DFM...Design for Manufacturability).
Develop and execute manufacturing plans for new products.
Maintain communication channels with plant management staff and NPI team leaders regarding project status and network/production strategies.
Support adherence to the global new product and sustaining roadmaps, project milestone process and metrics.
Manages/reports out on projects in all areas including funding, product costs, product quality, productivity, safety, ergonomic, environmental, space and timing limitations.
Execute risk management via identification, quantification, response development and control.
Report out monthly to Senior Management at Product Development Reviews.

Education and Experience Profile

7-10 years plus combined electronic manufacturing, engineering, operations, sourcing, purchasing, with proven negotiating skills
Minimum 5 years of project management experience in the Electronics Industry driving New Product Introductions or Sustaining Projects
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, or equivalent. Master's in Engineering or MBA preferred.
PCB, PCBA, SMT, Electrical Test, Functional test experience preferred
PMP - Project Management Certification Preferred
Must be able to thrive in a team-based, Matrix environment.
Able to travel (sometimes on short notice) as required by various work assignments.

Required Skills

Working knowledge of project milestones methodology
Project management utilizing Microsoft Project or similar software
Proactive problem-solving identification; solving problems with the ability to assess risk/benefit and to act decisively on findings
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
Effective computer skills familiar with Microsoft Windows applications, especially, Project, Word, Excel and Outlook
Must be able to work and thrive in a global team-based environment
High level of organizational skills
Alternatively, duties and responsibilities can be characterized by these Project Management knowledge areas:

Project Time Management

Activity definition, sequencing, duration estimating; schedule development and control.
Develop and maintain an overall plan of all activity. Monitor progress against this plan and drive any necessary contingency plans to meet project objectives.

Project Cost Management

Resource planning; Cost estimating, budgeting and control
Develop all needed manufacturing capital plans. Assure unit cost estimates are realistic and accurate. Track and control project to established budgets.
Capital and Expense plan ownership.

Project Communication Management

Communications planning, information distribution, performance reporting and administrative closure
Keep organization appraised of project status through concise reporting methods, especially at monthly Product Development Reviews (PDRs).

Project Procurement Management

Procurement planning; Solicitation planning; solicitation; Source selection; Contract administration and close out
Assure parts logistics network is as simplified as possible and aligned with HHI Operational strategy. Coordinate with Sourcing team to assure an understanding of project scope and ownership of sourcing plans.

Project Integration Management

Project plan development, execution and overall change control.
Develop and execute detailed project plans including the various plant and distribution centers. Manage changes that arise during the project.

Project Scope Management

Project initiation; scope planning, definition, verification and change control.
Clarify the original expectations of each project with impacted plants. Obtain their buy-in. Assure that any changes to this scope are understood and accepted by all impacted groups.

Project Quality Management

Quality planning, assurance and control
Coordinate with Quality team to assure an understanding of project scope and ownership of quality plans.

Risk identification, quantification, response development and response control
Understand manufacturing capabilities and develop contingency plans against likely faults. Monitor project progress and implement contingency measures to control project timing, quality and cost to agreed levels.
