We are always looking for new talent to grow our team all over the world Sr. Manufacturing Engineer II Location: Lake Forest, CA, US Description MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES1. Researches, develops and implements improvements to existing processes and manufacturing systems to improve quality, productivity, and reduce costs2. Assists in the research, development and implementation of advanced precision lathing and related processes and manufacturing systems to significantly improve productivity, product quality, and reduce operating costs for ICL and IOL products3. Leads and/or assists in the transfer and implementation of advanced precision lathing and related processes from PMCE to STAAR's manufacturing facilities4. Provides project management associated with new process/product development and the successful transfer into manufacturing5. Assesses processes for their relevance, and assesses the adequacy of methods, equipment, and instruments6. Applies statistical and analytical methods such as SPC, Gage R&R, and DOE7. Makes observations and takes measurements directly, as well as interprets data from other experiments and technical reports8. Develops manufacturing documentation and controls9. Develops and qualifies new tooling and equipment (IQ, OQ, PQ)10. Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION & TRAINING Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or demonstrated operational experience Must possess a high level knowledge of precision diamond turning and related equipment, Optoform Lathes preferred; and the use and implementation of associated manufacturing support equipment such as interferometers. Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience with processes in precision diamond lathe turning of optical devices Working knowledge of contact and non-contact measurement equipment capable of measuring in the sub-micron range EXPERIENCE Must have minimum of five years of manufacturing engineering experience in manufacturing of class III medical devices Must have minimum five years' experience in precision diamond turning of optometric or ophthalmic medical devices. Experience in process improvement methodologies (such as TQM, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma). Experience in the utilization of SPC, Gage R&R and DOE methodologies SKILLS Proficient in SolidWorks or other CAD application; certification desirable Ability to design and create Optoform machining files Microsoft Office Word (Power Point, Access, Visio, etc.) Proficient in Excel, Minitab, or other statistical software applications Familiar with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems Must have sufficient verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with all levels Must possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and motivate.
