- United States and Globally About the Role When you join AVEVA's
Research & Development team, you are joining a global team of over
2000 engineers and computer scientists. We work on more than 75
leading industrial automation and engineering products. Our focus,
passion, and collaboration help us to deliver innovative,

customers. As a part of this function, the AVEVA Simulation &
Learning team develops engineering solutions for our customers
through our simulation product offerings that target the chemical,
energy, sustainability, and oil & gas industries. Accurate
thermodynamics modeling is key to this mission. There are three
major focuses of this role: 1. Support: Assist and mentor our many
product-development teams in solving customer problems, especially
when confronting new thermodynamic systems requiring data
regression and modeling recommendations 2. Research: Execute,
publish, and/or present thermodynamics-related research as well as
represent AVEVA Thermodynamics in industry and academia. 3.
Explore: Stay current with published thermodynamics papers/data and
prototype recent developments for potential use in our simulation
products In this role you will: 1. Support activities can include:
a. Aiding product teams in the adoption of new thermodynamics
models b. Estimating parameters for use in thermodynamic models c.
Updating parameter libraries as new and revised parameters become
available. 2. Research activities can include: a. Work with
academia and government laboratories to develop new methods and
data b. Publish papers and articles on thermodynamic methods and
data c. Present on thermodynamic topics at user group meetings and
other AVEVA-hosted events d. Represent AVEVA at relevant
thermodynamics conferences, industry meetings, and academia. 3.
Exploration activities can include: a. Evaluate & recommend
potential new methods & data for applicability in our simulation
software b. Validate thermodynamics work in commercial process
simulators. c. Stay abreast of the "state of the art" in the
literature Qualifications --- Formal training with a BS/MS/Ph.D.
degree in Chemical Engineering or related field --- Experienced
user of Process Simulators/thermodynamic algorithms. --- 7+ years
of experience leveraging deep thermodynamics knowledge to solve
real-world engineering problems --- Clear and effective
communicator to both senior leadership and technology teams
Preferred Qualifications --- Strong applied mathematics skills
enabling the candidate to understand the mathematical complexities
of phase equilibrium calculations, where there can be several fluid
& solid phases in equilibrium with molecular and ionic species. ---
Strong numerical methods skills enabling the candidate to translate
thermo-physical and transport property methods into computer
algorithms that can be executed efficiently, allowing complex
methods to be used in computer-intensive calculations such as those
involved in dynamic simulation. --- Experience in coding
thermodynamics equilibrium flash, thermodynamics methods/properties
algorithms --- Programming skills in C++ and/or Python and/or Excel
VBA. The salary range for the state of Colorado is $131,700 -
